SHOOTERS HILL WARD/NEIGHBOURHOOD PANEL

Purpose
Established in 2006, the Shooters Hill Ward/Neighbourhood Panel provides a platform for community representatives who live and/or work in the Shooters Hill Police Ward to meet face-to-face with the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team (SHSNT) to discuss and agree policing priorities for the forthcoming eight weeks.

The panel also provides the opportunity to engage partners including Greenwich Council representatives and local Ward Councillors to help tackle crime and anti social behaviour as part of an overall problem solving approach.

Format
The ward panel discusses key safety and security concerns taking place within the Shooters Hill Police ward. The SHSNT provide an update of their ongoing work including detailed information and statistics about burglaries and vehicle crime.

Each ward panel member is given the opportunity to raise current concerns within their particular community - these may be personal observations or passed on by residents within the ward.

It is the responsibility of the ward panel member to then cascade key public information within their communities. This can be done through various communication channels including newsletters, emails, websites, face-to-face.

The panel members, police and selected guests meet every eight weeks at Plumstead Police Station, SE18. Agendas and minutes are produced for each meeting, as well as an actions log. The panel has a constitution which was updated in July 2010.

Membership
Panel members are volunteers, voted on the panel through a nomination process. Members represent a local community, business or organisation located in the Shooters Hill Police Ward. These include Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, Friends of Parks groups, residents associations, shops, support and faith groups and schools.

If you would like to join the Shooters Hill Ward Panel or have any queries please contact the Vice Chair at lennienew@ntlworld.com

Outcomes
By timely and informed communication focusing on priority policing issues, the Shooters Hill Ward Panel will help to improve the safety, security and overall quality of life for people who live, work and/or visit the Shooters Hill Police Ward.

The panel members are better informed of policing activities in the ward and in turn by cascading the key information, wider communities are better informed.
