SHOOTERS HILL SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE TEAM

Latest update from the team

The Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Police TeamDuring January, the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team were tackling a number of issues including an increased youth presence on Woolwich Common and making London's roads safer. With hard work and assistance from other agencies the team made great progress.

The issue of an increased youth presence on the Woolwich Common is being addressed by conducting patrols in the area, both in uniform and in plain clothes. This has resulted in a number of youths being stopped and spoken to and in some instances searched for drugs or weapons.

The team were involved in a London-wide initiative to help make roads safer. This was organised for the entire Borough of Greenwich by Sergeant Barry Edge and PC Richie Sale and run over seven sites, with over 50 PC's and other agencies working together. When the initiative was completed and the results collated, Greenwich Borough was in first place - a sure sign that people using the roads illegally in the borough have and will be targeted and caught.

The team have also been involved with several drugs warrants executed on the Shooters Hill Ward resulting in drugs being recovered and arrests made.

The team continue to try and make the ward a safer place to live but always need the help of residents and businesses alike in gathering intelligence and calling it in. The team need the community to continue being vigilant, reporting in anything that is suspicious or of a criminal nature.

The SHSNT cannot be on patrol 24/7 but with the help of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and residents providing valuable intelligence, this helps the police to identify and deter criminals who are seeking to work in your area.

Please continue to contact the SHSNT via telephone (leave a message) or by email. Remember if your call is urgent please dial 999 or 101
