The Eaglesfield Park Neighbourhood Watch Scheme celebrated its sixth birthday in January and one way to mark the occasion was at the scheme’s annual cheese and wine night/AGM.
The event, held on Thursday 26 January, highlighted the benefits of Neighbourhood Watch and fostering community spirit.
Key partners, stakeholders and interested parties joined the team of 14 Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators and 20 residents at the Woolwich and Plumstead Bowling Club to learn more about the expansion of the scheme, key achievements in 2011 and plans for 2012.
Jenny Penn, Principal Co-ordinator, said: “We had our best turn out yet and it was great to see some new faces from our community as a result of the scheme expanding to Shrewsbury Lane and part of Shooters Hill. The scheme now includes 322 households plus one castle, one farm, one pub, one shop and two clubs!”
The event was supported by the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team, Parks and Open Spaces and Greenwich Council’s Safer Communities team who hosted
break-out tables where attendees, including MP Clive Efford and Sector Inspector Jas Sandu, could discuss any issues or share
best practice in an informal environment.
“The contribution small groups make to communities can be overlooked, but this event really shows how we can all work together in providing safer, secure and pleasant places to live, work and play.”
